I heard on NPR that some people in Lebanon received text messages on their cell phones that a tunnel in an area that was supposed to safe would be bombed and that the tunnel should be avoided.

As it turned out, this text was bogus and no one knows who was behind it. It seems to me that both sides might have had motivation to send such a text, but what strikes me most is the use of cell phones to broadcast mass messages like this. Since I'm not a cell phone owner, I don't even really understand how this is possible.

It reminds me of the Doctor Who episode from this past season when the Cybermen first appear, and all the people wear ear pods that give them the latest news, jokes, weather, and eventually orders right into their brains.
